Is "AI SEO" a thing, or marketing fluff?
It’s a real shift. Google AI Overviews now cap above the organic results for ~30% of commercial queries. ChatGPT and Perplexity together sent more referral traffic to publishers than Bing did in Q1 2026. The optimisation patterns are different: AI engines extract paragraphs, not pages, and reward citation-friendly structure (definition openers, question H2s, named entities). Treating them like Google-2018 leaves traffic on the table.
How is GEO different from traditional SEO?
Traditional SEO optimises for click-through from a SERP. GEO optimises for being cited inside a generated answer, usually with a small attribution link.
